INFORMATION

Campout to End Youth Homelessness is an annual event held in Kamloops, BC, hosted by A Way Home Kamloops Society.

Campout To End Youth Homelessness will take place on December 11th, 2020. This is an annual fundraiser that helps shine a light on youth homelessness in Kamloops. Community members spend a December night outside in a cardboard box in honour of youth who are without a home. Campers are encouraged to raise pledges and donations that fund crucial programs that support homeless youth. City Council issues a Proclamation in honour of this event and many high profile Kamloopsians camp out in solidarity with homeless youth.

This year, campers have the option to attend virtually from home or in-person at McDonald Park! There is limited capacity to attend in-person to ensure physical distancing measures and our COVID-19 Safety Plan (see top of this page) is followed. All BC CDC protocols will be followed and Campout will only take place virtually if restrictions change.

Every dollar raised will directly benefit youth at risk of or experiencing homelessness through A Way Home Kamloops programs. Our programs provide youth with housing, education, and employment training to help them become contributing members of our community. Previous Campouts have helped open Safe Suites and funded the Youth Housing First program, which housed 71 youth in 2019.

Youth homelessness is a significant concern across the province; in Kamloops homeless youth face unprecedented challenges due to COVID-19 and need a home now more than ever. By sponsoring, 100% of the money collected will go directly to housing homeless youth in Kamloops for the holidays and beyond.
