House Leader

Safe Suites

Full-time @ $22/hr

JOB SUMMARY: 
The Safe Suites House Leader is to be primary contact for the facility and to manage daily operations. Daily operational management includes program development, helping youth manage their goals, and coordinating services and support for youth residing in the A Way Home Kamloops Safe Suites Supportive Housing program.

 

PROGRAM SITE: 
The Safe Suites program is a new & exciting community housing program that supports six youth ages 18-25 to exit homelessness through a supportive environment. Staff support youth in stabilizing, establishing life-skills and connecting to community to support a healthy transition to adulthood and permanent housing.

 

CLASSIFICATION: Full time with benefits

 

WAGE: $22 per hour

 

HOURS: 40 hours a week. Monday to Friday, 10am-6pm.

Life Skills

Support Worker

Safe Suites

JOB SUMMARY: 

The primary job of the Safe Suites Life Skills Support Worker is to provide a supportive housing environment for youth residing in Safe Suites. This position is responsible for providing support services and helping youth develop life skills that will help sustain future independent housing. The role will support youth in implementing wellness plans and provide both individual and group programming.

 

PROGRAM SITE: 
The Safe Suites program is a new & exciting community housing program that supports six youth ages 18-25 to exit homelessness through a supportive environment. Staff support youth in stabilizing, establishing life-skills and connecting to community to support a healthy transition to adulthood and permanent housing.

 

CLASSIFICATION: Full time with benefits

 

WAGE: $21 per hour

 

HOURS: 10am to 6pm, Monday to Friday.

Scattered Site

On-Call Staff

Compensation detailed below

JOB SUMMARY: 

The primary role of On-Call Staff is to provide consultation, support and emergency guidance to staff working in the Scattered Site program.

 

PROGRAM SITE: 

The On-Call staff will be provided with a cell phone while completing their rotation. Duties will be predominantly completed via phone and email. In rare occasions they may need to respond in person to a scattered site location.

 

CLASSIFICATION: On-Call

 

COMPENSATION: 

The On-Call staff will receive $250/week during the weeks they are on call. If the on-call staff is required to respond in person, they will receive banked time equivalent to a minimum of a 4-hour shift at $21/hour.

HOURS:
Monday to Friday 5pm to 9am, Saturday and Sunday 24 hours

Outreach Worker

Full-Time @ $20/hr

PROGRAM OVERVIEW:

The Outreach Program is key cornerstone for prevention and ending youth homelessness in Kamloops. A Way Home Kamloops prioritizes supporting youth transitioning from the street into supportive housing, including our Safe Suites Program. Outreach is a key component in building a bridge from the survival on the streets into safe, secure and affordable housing. Prevention is an essential component of Outreach as youth at risk of homelessness will be supported to sustain housing or to secure more appropriate housing.

 

JOB SUMMARY:

The primary role of the Youth Outreach worker is to provide comprehensive youth engagement and support services to youth ages 16-26 at risk of or experiencing homelessness as part of a team for marginalized youth. This role will operate from a youth-led philosophy, honouring the lived expertise of young people we work with. Outreach will be provided with a relational, non-judgemental approach that promotes choice and supports the development of self-efficacy and self determination to effect change towards wellness. This role will assist youth in transitioning into housing and support youth in stabilizing out of homelessness. This role also provides homelessness prevention services such as family mediation, aging out transition planning, and preventing evictions.

PROGRAM SITE: Safe Suites and Scattered Site Housing 

 

CLASSIFICATION: Full time with benefits

WAGE: $20 per hour

HOURS: 35 hours/week, 8:30-4:30pm, Monday to Friday
